What This Calculator Estimates
This calculator estimates a total wedding budget using the categories that often drive the biggest wedding costs. It also shows an average cost per guest so you can compare the event size against the overall budget.
Formula / Method Used
The calculator adds venue, attire, photography, and other costs directly. Catering is calculated as guests x catering cost per guest. Total wedding budget is the sum of all categories. The per-guest figure is calculated as total budget / guest count.
Worked Example
For 100 guests, a $5,000 venue, $65 catering per guest, $1,800 attire, $2,200 photography, and $1,500 other costs, the estimated budget is $17,000. That equals about $170 per guest.
What the Result Means
The total estimate helps set a realistic planning ceiling before you book vendors. The per-guest figure is useful when you need to compare guest-list changes or check whether a smaller event materially reduces the budget.
Common Mistakes
- Leaving out taxes, service charges, gratuities, or required rentals.
- Ignoring how guest count affects more than just catering.
- Using early vendor quotes without checking peak-season pricing.
- Forgetting stationery, entertainment, transportation, or honeymoon costs if they belong in your full wedding plan.
